I am married to a wonderful wife and together we have 2 beautiful girls and a chocolate lab. I have worked at Thrift Books since October 2006. During my tenure at Thrift Books I've held multiple positions, each one with its own set of challenges and opportunities. From my first position as a Puller to eventually Managing the Processing Center to later Overseeing our Transportation Department. My current position as an Innovations Project Manager allows me to travel to all the Processing Centers and leverage my knowledge to help them with the implementation of new technology and procedures. Working for Thrift Books for as long as I have has truly shown me that anything is possible if you set your mind to it. Our leadership team is one who has never settled for "good enough", it has always been about pushing the limit of what is possible, and I love that about working here.
I am a strong believer of going through life doing as many things as possible that bring you joy. As a result of that, I have been lucky enough to have experienced many hobbies such as Backpacking, Camping, Paintballing, Motorcycle Riding, Obstacle Course Running amongst many others. Most recently I have taken on fishing so that has taken much of my time as late. In general, I am always finding ways to experience or learn new activities.
My all-time favorite fiction author is the Stephen King. My favorite two books of his are: The Shinning - I like this book because its full of suspense throughout the whole book. It's one of those books you can't simply put down because every sentence just blends into the next part of the story. Carrie Another great book by Mr. King. I have always like to read non-fiction books that have some sort of mystical powers written in them. Nowadays, I find myself reading more educational books, here are some of the ones I tell everyone to read if they haven't: Why Employees Don't Do What They're Supposed to Do and What to Do about it - This book truly changed the way I lead my employees. There are many managerial need-to-know-how topics in this book that are well covered and easy to digest. I truly recommend this book to anyone who is starting or is looking to start their path in management. Start with Why: How Great Leaders Inspire Everyone to Take Action. In management, we sometimes forget the basics on why people come to work or do what they do. This book reminds you that it is important to build a connection that builds its foundation with WHY. If you are looking learn on how to get buy-in from folks in your team, this book will help you get that knowledge.
