#1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER A Reese Witherspoon Book Club Pick "Beautifully written and incredibly funny, Eleanor Oliphant Is Completely Fine is about the importance of friendship and human connection. I fell in love with Eleanor, an eccentric and regimented loner whose life beautifully unfolds after a chance encounter with a stranger; I think you will fall in love, too " --Reese Witherspoon No one's ever told Eleanor that life should be better than...

Slow at times

Eleanor was a dull character with an infuriating background. However, it doesn’t make up for the fact that she had very little plot. At times, I wanted to drop the book, but I ended up finishing it. Not the best, but it did give some insight into the disease of loneliness.

Didn't totally live up to the hype.

I did really like this one, but I also *rounded up* to 4 stars. I'd probably give it about a 3.5. Eleanor is an interesting character, but the book dragged at times. I've heard this is being developed as a show/movie and I will look forward to watching that. Not sure if I'd recommend this book though, to be completely honest.

Perfect Read

Funny but also very meaningful. This is an excellent read about overcoming past trauma and hope for a new future.

I found this book to be so endearing, whimsical, funny, a fast read. All the things I like in a book. The characters are very likeable.

A character you cheer for - funny, quirky, and moves at a great pace.

It's another of those odd, unlikely holidays—Curmudgeon's Day! And, of course, we're celebrating with books! Why are lovable grumps such a staple in literature? Maybe it's because it's so satisfying to find the kind heart underneath all their bluster. Here are seven of our favorite literary curmudgeons.
