Book Overview

First published in 1954, Lord of the Flies is now recognised as a classic, one of the most celebrated and widely read of modern novels. This edition, which includes an introduction and notes by Ian Gregor and Mark Kinkead-Weekes, meets the demand for its use in schools and its prescription by numerous examining boards. In compiling the notes they have borne in mind the needs of younger readers not only in this country but overseas.

Ordered “New” got different cover than advertised.

I ordered this “New” specifically because I wanted a specific cover as I would be keeping this book forever. The cover they had advertised for “New” was a white background with a green fly hovering over a man in a suit and tophat. Instead, after paying extra for “New” I received the red cover with flames. I dont know how they get away with advertising wrong covers on “New” products.

Excellent book.

Brilliant example of hiw a dominance hierarchy might develope in the absence of rule of law. Even my 8 year old son understood that point. Great story for all ages. I also recommend the audio version as there is a great preface about the book by the author himself.

Great story

Great book, really breaks down the characters personalities and carries your attention to the end.

Im upset.

I bought this book in very good condition and to my surprise I received a book with hilights EVERYWHERE and ink marks as well. I didn’t even know that this was something that could happen especially if I bought the book in very good condition. I’m really upset.

Sooo Good!

This was a required book for my lit class. I enjoyed it so much I regret not buying a copy. Even the kids who don't usually enjoy reading books for class enjoyed this book.

The book is awsome

No doubt this is a great read whether for school or leisure, but i will advise you, bc this book is used a lot for school purposes, so not buy one less than good condition or else it will be written in page after page in color pens markers and highlighters. Unless you don’t mind then go for the cheap one but be ready to figure out the words under the scribbles. Again great book

High School

Many of us were forced to read this novel in High School English class. I am glad I had to read this book, it made me think, but I remember it being gruesome as well!!

Okay, maybe we can’t eliminate censorship (yet...#goals), but we can celebrate Banned Books Week with gusto by reading all of the stories that someone (or someones) tried to silence, destroy, or restrict access to. Here are 50 of the most frequently banned and/or most recently challenged books, along with the "who, why, and how" of literary censorship in America.
